Installation

Install gh-select with gh extension install. A standalone binary and go install also work.

Install

You need the GitHub CLI logged in (gh auth login) and git. Then:

gh extension install remcostoeten/gh-select

Run it:

gh select

gh select doctor

gh select doctor reporting git, gh and auth as ok

Anything marked [x] comes with a hint on how to fix it.

gh extension upgrade gh-select

When a new release exists, the header of the app tells you and shows this command. Set GH_SELECT_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1 to turn the notice off.

gh extension remove gh-select

You rarely need these. Both still use your gh login.

Each release has one binary per platform, named like linux-amd64 or darwin-arm64.

Run it as gh-select.
